Four women from Bangalore were crushed to death after a driver of a car lost control and hit a group walking towards a prayer hall for an annual convention in Thanjavur on Thursday.
After that, 30 devotees were walking along the service road at Thanjavur-Tiruchy bypass. Suddenly, a car bound from Tiruchy to Thanjavur rushed towards them and four women - M Kavitha (25) from Netaji Nagar in Bangalore, Selvi (45) and her daughters Keerthi (20) Kanniammal (48) – came under the wheels. Kavitha died on the spot while Selvi, Keerthi and Kanniammal died at Thanjavur Medical College hospital.
Balakishnan (48) from Thirukattupalli, the car driver Sathyanarayanan (42) from Dindigul, his father Ramachandran (68) and mother Revathi (65) sustained injuries. They are at the Medical college hospital. Vallam police have registered a case.
