With the board exams just a couple of months away, the State government is yet to appoint senior district education authorities including Chief Education Officers (CEO) in the newly announced five districts, which is likely to affect the preparations for the exams.
Accordingly, each district has a minimum of four district education officers, who would be co-ordinating with the CEO of their respective region and would administer all kinds of schools. The Tamil Nadu Teachers Association President PK Ilamaran said that the details of students of Class 5, 8, 10, 11 and 12, who face board exams, would have to be sent through CEO to get exam related information including to get hall tickets. “Now, CEO in the district, which are bifurcated, had to shunt every now and then to the new districts,” he said adding they should also face two Collectors.
He also said that even welfare measures such as freebie distributions would be affected. A School Education Department official said that there are few staff who are temporarily looking after works of CEO.
