The representatives of various political parties from Tiruchy district on Wednesday appealed in unison that the entire local body polls should be held in single phase and claimed that it would only help to conduct the election on a fair way.
The party members also appealed that the nominations for the panchayat president, district and union councillor nominations should be received at the respective union offices while the panchayat ward members’ nominations should be received at the respective panchayat offices. While the candidates nominated for the reserved wards should attach a copy of their community certificate.
Meanwhile, Collector Sivarasu said that at least 20 per cent of polling booths that were identified as sensitive would have CCTV facility while more number of booths would be under CCTV watch if they are identified as the sensitive booths.
The complaints regarding the elections should be made to the union returning officers and Bock Development Officers. While an exclusive telephone number would be established to lodge complaints.
The Collector also appealed to extend support to the district administration to conduct the elections in a fair manner.
