As many as 9,124 cases are pending for more than five years in Tiruchy district and they would be completed on priority basis as per the directions of the Supreme Court, said the Principal District Judge K Murali Shankar here on Monday.
Stating that 20 per cent of cases on an average are pending, the Principal District Judge said, the percentile had been reduced to 15 since the month of July. He appealed to the advocates to work hand in hand to expedite the pending cases. While speaking, District Collector S Sivarasu said, the number of new courts would help to expedite the cases and the district administration has decided to depute the revenue department to construct a court at Srirangam- Lalgudi main road in an area of two acres. Chief Judicial Magistrate S Kirubakaran Mathuram and City Commissioner of Police A Amalraj and others were present.
