MDMK leader Vaiko, on Friday, urged the Union government to take steps to announce the safety instructions on flights in Tamil, too.
He added that flying was once considered a luxury but not anymore. While domestic flights within the State do not have Tamil announcements, many flights to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore have them.
He further said that the government of those countries are concerned about the safety of the passengers and hence they include Tamil instructions, too. The Centre should also consider doing the same.
Vaiko’s proposal was seconded by members of other parties and Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu referred the issue to the Minister concerned.
