SEC petitioned on delimitation
Detailing the mandatory legal formalities to be carried out before proceeding with the notification for local bodies, DMK organising secretary RS Bharati, in his representation made with the SEC, said that they have all the documents to show that the district delimitation authorities have not been constituted in nine new districts and the mandatory legal requirements contemplated under the TN Local Bodies Delimitation Regulations 2017 have not been complied with.
Alleging that statutory requirements under the Delimitation Act 2017 has been “scrupulously violated with impunity,” the DMK submitted that the no public notice intimation about the delimitation exercise has been carried out at the district-level. “There had been no hearing by the authorities, no publication of draft delimitation order and political parties were not invited or called,” Bharati claimed.
