As many as 15 inmates of Tiruchy Special Prison, who were admitted to the GH for reportedly consuming sedatives while staging a hunger strike, refused treatment and staged a protest for their release on Saturday.
Two days back, they commenced their indefinite hunger strike on the prison premises and the officials who held talks with them failed to convince them as they were demanding their release which had to be made after a series of legal formalities.
On Friday, 15 inmates reportedly consumed over dosage of sedatives and reportedly fell unconscious and they were rushed to the GH by 108 ambulance.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, a few had refused to cooperate for the treatment but they came out of the GH and staged a protest in front of the hospital demanding their release. The officials held talks with the agitating inmates and later they dispersed from the spot.
