The Department of Radiation Oncology, Regional Cancer Centre, Jipmer, will organise a cancer awareness and screening camp at Government Boys Middle School, Villianur, here on Sunday to mark the National Cancer Awareness Day-2019.
According to a Jipmer release on Friday, the Camp will focus on creating awareness on life style factors of cancer such as tobacco, smoking and alcohol.
Specific focus also be given to sensitisation and screening for oral, breast and cervical cancer to promote women's wellness.
The camp will commence with the introductory address on cancer and life style risk factors by Dr R. Chandramouli, Senior Resident, Department of Radiation Oncology.
Dr K. Gunaseelan, Head of the Department, Department of Radiation Oncology, will deliver the special address emphasised on importance of screening, early detection and timely treatment.
Group and individual counselling sessions will be held for clarification and educating individuals on potential risk, preventive measures and screening methods of cancer.
