Four persons have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a Yelagiri-based real estate dealer by a gang.
They then contacted Arul’s son Robin with an initial ransom demand of Rs 10 lakh which was raised to Rs 50 lakh sometime later. Three special teams were formed to trace the kidnappers following Arul’s family complaining to the Yelagiri police. A team rushed to Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh based on mobile phone tower signals.
Lying in wait on a road near where they picked up the signal they stopped four youth on two motorbikes and apprehended them. The four were identified as Vinod, 32, and Prabhu, 26, both from Bengaluru and Nadeem Ahamed, 33, and Tabesh Ahamed, 29, both from Vaniyambadi.
Meanwhile, based on information from the arrested, the police rushed to a village near Bangarupet and rescued Arul who was hiding after managing to escape from the remaining kidnappers. He was brought back and restored to his family while the police are investigating the reasons behind the incident. A case was registered and investigations are on.
