A 46-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her son in Dindigul on Thursday. The deceased victim has been identified as Jeya, wife of Nagaraj, resident of Acharajakapatty.
Dindigul taluk police have arrived at the scene of crime, inspected and held inquiries. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Kannan (23), who undertook treatment at a drug addiction centre, which is located at RM Colony in Dindigul, returned to his house recently.
When Kannan demanded money from her mother, she refused to give him what he demanded. After being irked over this, Kannan was said to have assaulted his mother Jeya with a hammer on her head.
As the victim sustained head injuries, she was left dead in a pool of blood. The body was taken to Dindigul Government Hospital for post-mortem.
Dindigul taluk police have filed a case and the accused has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody, the sources said.
