The Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture has conferred the ‘Global Agriculture award-2019’ on Tamil Nadu for being the Best Agriculture state.
With advanced technological and appropriate policy interventions, food grain production in the state has surpassed 100 lakh metric tonnes for the sixth time in a row for the past eight years and bagged the Centre’s Krishi Karman Award five times for promoting crop specific technologies. Tamil Nadu, a pioneer in IT initiatives in agriculture was a two-time winner of National e-Governance Gold Award. Based on these achievements, it was declared as the Best Agriculture state and chosen for Global Agriculture award. Minister Doraikannu and Agriculture Department Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi showed the award to Chief Minister on Thursday.
