The Madras High Court has imposed a cost of Rs 25, 000 on a petitioner who had resorted to wasting judicial time by coming up with baseless allegations against the former Director-General of Police SR Jangid.
When Jangid was the Chennai suburban police commissioner, Vidya had moved the high court alleging that Jangid had foisted false cases against her. But a single judge who had heard the plea on finding all allegations to be false gagged Vidya from talking about Jangid and imposed a cost of Rs 10,000 on her.
On challenging the single judge’s order, Vidya moved the present plea. However, even as the plea was pending hearing, she had moved another plea seeking for some changes in the single judge’s order and had obtained a few of them.
But the bench on being informed about the changes made, dismissed her plea besides imposing the cost. Now, she has been directed to face the suit of Rs 1 crore filed by Jangid against her.
Vidya is reportedly involved in a CBI criminal case of defrauding nationalised banks worth crores of rupees and facing trial in the CBI court, Chennai. She is also facing two criminal cases of cheating in Chennai.
