The AIADMK filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday, demanding action against the DMK functionaries for staying in Vikravandi constituency even after the completion of the campaigning ahead of the by-election on Monday.
He also said that the campaign in Vikravandi ended by 5 pm on Saturday and after the campaign all the AIADMK leaders and cadre from outside the constituency moved out but the DMK functionaries are still inside the constituency.
“There are reports that the AIADMK will win the by-election in both the constituencies and so the DMK, which is in fear of losing, is planning to create law and order. So, important functionaries such as former Ministers K N Nehru, E V Velu, K Ponmudi, S Jagathrakshakan are still staying in various guest houses and private hotels in Vikravandi constituency. The ECI should take steps to immediately send these functionaries out of Vikravandi constituency,” said Babu Murugavel.
He further said that the AIADMK cadre in Vikravandi have informed the party high command that the DMK is planning to seize polling booths at the final hours of polling and so to prevent any untoward incident the security should be strengthened.
