The government’s Special Public Prosecutor at the Mahila Court in Tiruvallur, Dhanalakshmi ML, was terminated from service following a government order on Friday.
In the most recent complaint, Dhanalakshmi was accused of threatening a physically challenged minor and her family to drop charges against a school headmaster who was accused of sexually assaulting her. Sources said that she had received a huge sum from the accused and had promised to drop off charges by trying to pay off the victims.
Sources claimed that Dhanalakshmi was popularly known as a good ‘deal’ advocate in prosecution circles and several complaints had been filed against her. Recently, advocates in Tiruvallur district had staged a protest against the illegal activities of Dhanalakshmi and demanded action from the State government. Even DMK had demanded her sacking following the most recent case. Tiruvallur district authorities claimed that following her termination, investigation would proceed into allegations of bribery and official misconduct against the advocate.
