The recent U turn by the opposition leader and the DMK president MK Stalin who withdrew the Hindi agitation against the Centre and the welcoming tone to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inviting Chinese President Xi Jinping to Mahabalipuram has raised many an eyebrow creating fresh turbulence among the AIADMK seniors.
AIADMK seniors are taking turns to blame the DMK for its soft approach towards the BJP as another senior AIADMK leader KC Palaniswami told DT Next that there are constant efforts by the BJP and the DMK to create a political platform between both the parties so that they can dominate the political space in future. There are efforts to create a West Bengal model in TN.
BJP leaders are trying to create a political platform where Dravidian politics will fight against the Hindutva politics mooted by the BJP. In this process, the BJP and DMK have the strategic understanding to eliminate the AIADMK from the TN political scenario, the sulking AIADMK leader said.
“This is not an AIADMK government. This is a government-run by the BJP with the consensus of the DMK. DMK MLAs are not keen on dislodging the government. DMK is inching closer towards the BJP and there is a secret pact with the BJP. It’s time for the AIADMK to ignore the government and start concentrating on the party,” Palaniswami opined.
Forest Minister Dindigul C Sreenivasan, who is campaigning against the DMK in bypoll-bound Nanguneri had also opined that the DMK has no other choice other than supporting the BJP-led Centre.
“Last week Minister D Jayakumar visited BJP headquarters in Chennai seeking the support of the national party. This would not have happened if our Amma (Jayalalithaa) was alive. Both the DMK and the AIADMK are now going soft against the BJP and this is a threat to the Dravidian ideologies practised by AIADMK and DMK,” said Poonganagar Selvam, a party old-timer, who is also the joint secretary of the North Chennai MGR Mandram.
“There are also reports that the BJP may continue with the I-T raids strategy against the AIADMK and DMK if actor Rajnikanth jumps into the poll fray,” an AIADMK MLA, who returned to the parent party from rebel AMMK said.
