AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran told reporters in Bengaluru on Wednesday that vested interests are targeting jailed AMMK leader VK Sasikala and is spreading fabricated news against her release.
He said that the report dates back to several months and also alleged that the media is playing to the tunes of political bosses. “There is nothing wrong in criticising Dhinakaran, who is a politician, but why target a jailed leader. This is ethically not correct,” Dhinakaran said. The RK Nagar MLA also said that the lawyers are taking legal efforts to ensure the release of Sasikala.
Commenting about the upcoming bypolls and local body polls, Dhinakaran said that his party will refrain from supporting anyone. “We are in the process of registering the AMMK as a political party through the Election Commission. AMMK will fight the polls after registration,” Dhinakaran said. Later in a statement, Dhinakaran urged the AMMK cadre to distribute nilavembu kudineer in mosquito-infested areas.
