Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday appreciated Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev for his efforts to save Cauvery River through his ‘Cauvery Calling’ initiative.
He also said that the awareness movement has reached a large number of farmers and it will be taken to the people in a phased manner.
“I learnt that 60,000 farmers have received training for setting up Agro farming from Sadhguru and he has planned to take the awareness programme to a higher level in the next 12 years. He has also planned to plant 242 crore trees for the awareness programme and I am proud that it will be the largest afforestation effort in the entire world,” said the Chief Minister.
He further listed the achievements of the state government in afforestation front.
“From 2011-12 till date the state government has planted 4.69 crore saplings across the state. For the year 2019-20, the state is on a mission to plant 71 lakh saplings”, said Palaniswami on the occasion.
