Adding to the joy of devotees on the occasion of Deepavali, the Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple here has planned to distribute laddoos to the devotees free of cost.
The temple would remain open to the devotees since early morning hours of October 27 (Deepavali), the statement added.
It was the first of its kind initiative by a temple being managed by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HRCE) in Tamil Nadu, the Thakkar said. The Government also gave its nod for distributing free laddoos to the devotees on Deepavali. To ensure all devotees were provided with ‘laddoo prasadham,’ a machinery to prepare laddoos was bought at a cost of Rs 5 lakh. With the aid of the equipment, as many as 500 laddoos could be prepared in an hour’s time. Since a large number of devotees were expected to visit the temple, various facilities were included in the temple.
Adding to its credit, the Thakkar said the world fame Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple was recently adjudged the second best ‘Swachh Iconic place’ in India in recognition of cleanliness being maintained on its premises.
