State Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar on Thursday criticised the DMK for posing threat to Tamil language.
Recently, DMK president M K Stalin stressed his party men to keep names for their children in Tamil as the language is facing threat. The statement received mixed response as DMK treasurer Duraimurugan supported it and said that even many of the DMK party men do not keep Tamil names for their children.
When Jayakumar was asked about the issue, he requested Stalin to change his name into a Tamil name. “Is Stalin a Tamil name. Let him change his name after any one of the Tamil poet’s name such as Seethalai Sathanar or Pisirandhaiyar,” said Jayakumar, in reply to a query from the media.
He further said that even the companies and institutions run by the DMK and its family members are not in Tamil. “Are Sun TV and Sunshine schools named in Tamil. Let them teach in Tamil medium in their schools,” said Jayakumar.
