A day after four culprits, who hijacked a lorry, got hurt while trying to evade police, a notorious criminal named ‘Veechu’ Dinesh received fractures on his arms and legs when he tried to escape the cops on Friday night.
Sources claimed that he was hiding in a private lodge at Walajapet town and the local police raided the place and secured him before handing him over to the Sathuvachary police on Friday, as there were pending cases against him.
Initially, there were no reports of Dinesh trying to escape from the police, but on Saturday morning, Dinesh was reportedly admitted to the Vellore Government Medical College and Hospital, with injuries, which the Vellore special branch police claimed, were attained while trying to scale a wall to escape the Walajapet police who raided the lodge. Vellore SP Pravesh Kumar said that the injury was purely ‘accidental’.
Meanwhile, a local person, seeking anonymity, stated that the accusers involved in serious crimes are getting hurt and that it all seems very suspicious. But, a resident of Sathuvachary, KS Murthy, contradicted by saying that the public would now have peace as the criminals wouldn’t be able to move their limbs for some time.
It may be recalled that when the police resorted to encounters in the mid-eighties to put down naxalism and rowdyism, it led to human rights issues raised by NGOs. “This way, the police will not face problems as the culprit is still alive, though immobile,” Murthy added.
