More than 500 petitions were received by Commercial Taxes Minister KC Veeramani at the special grievances redressal programme at Thamalerimuthur village in Tirupattur taluk on Saturday.
Stating that several petitions seeking old age pension were received, the Minister said that the all those eligible for the scheme would be provided pension soon. He also asked the petitioners to attach the required documents along with their petition to ensure quick action.
In case a petition is rejected, the reason would also be stated in the reply. This would enable the petitioners to rectify the lapses and apply again in case they were eligible, he added.
The Minister was accompanied by Vellore Collector A Shanmugasundaram and Tirupattur sub-collector Priyanka Pankajam and tahsildar Anandakrishnan and cooperative sugar mill chairman AR Rajendran.
The special grievances redressal programme was also held in Sathuvachary on the outskirts of Vellore and received a good response from the public, said the officials.
