Accusing the ruling BJP and AIADMK of partnering to win the Vellore Parliamentary seat by abusing power, DMK president MK Stalin on Monday issued a clarion call to his party workers to work tirelessly to make their 37-seat victory total and cement the strength of the party in the Parliament as third largest one by winning Vellore.
Recalling Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s ‘candy’ reference and the analogy he drew between ‘halwa’ and AIADMK victory’s in Theni in a public meeting on Sunday, Stalin said that people who became Chief Minister by accident and a few others in the ruling party were trying to cover up their failure in the recent Parliamentary elections were insulting public mandate in their attempt to ridicule the DMK.
Detailing the fiscal strain suffered by the state exchequer during the AIADMK regime and comparing the performance of the DMK MPs in the Parliament and instances when the ruling AIADMK had compromised on sensitive issues, the DMK president said the ruling parties might hatch conspiracies a plenty, but the people have resolved to only elect the DMK.
Writing for party organ Murasoli, Stalin said the ruling parties might flex their money and muscle, but they would negate that with the commitment in electioneering work. DMK has fielded its treasurer Duraimurugan’s son Kathir Anand again in the seat.
