“Participating in news debates usually helps the party to carry forward the views, but there is no due space for the party,” the statement said.

After ruling AIADMK, BJP is the second party in the recent times to put a gag order for the party spokespersons insisting them to avoid media interactions.

According to BJP insiders, there is strong view among the news anchors to target the BJP spokespersons and this is also reason for the party to take the decision. However senior leaders like H Raja, Tamilisai Soundararajan, Pon Radhakrishnan will continue to address press conferences.
