Communists will work for a political change in the country and in Tamil Nadu by aligning with regional parties. However, we will not ally with recently floated parties launched by actors, CPM State secretary K Balakrishnan told reporters here on Wednesday.
The remark from the Marxist leader comes even as Kamal Haasan has announced that his party Makkal Needhi Maiam was ready for the bypolls to 20 vacant seats in Tamil Nadu.
Condemning the State police for not preventing crime against women, Balakrishnan recalled recent crimes against women, including the murder of a woman at the Marina Beach and the beheading of a 14-year-old girl in Salem.
“Police action against the offenders was not encouraging, but now cases are being registered against children for bursting crackers. It is high time that the State government takes effort to prevent increasing crime against women in the society,” Balakrishnan said.
