Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday inaugurated a host of new projects associated with State Highways department, Home department and Tangedco.
Among them, the one in Namakkal costing Rs 295.1 crore is intended to reduce traffic congestion and provide better connectivity to Malliyakkarai, Rasipuram, Tiruchengode and Erode.
“Travellers from Athur to Tiruchengode and Erode will be benefitted as commuting time would be reduced considerably,” said Palaniswami. Three more road bridges were constructed at Karamadai in Coimbatore district, Tindivanam in Villupuram district and in Dindigul town. A river bridge across Vaniyar river was opened in Pappireddipatti in Dharmapuri district.
Palaniswami also inaugurated 148 houses in police quarters, two police stations, two buildings of police department, 34 houses in Fire and Rescue Department quarters and two buildings for Fire and Rescue Department.
The police quarters were constructed at Cheranmahadevi in Tirunelveli district, where 26 houses were constructed at a cost of Rs 3.33 crore.
Newly constructed houses constructed at Thelur in Ariyalur district, Kadalkudi in Thoothukudi district and Orathanadu in Thanjavur district were also opened.
Each house is constructed at an area spanning 650 square feet. The new police stations were opened at Velachery and Ariyamangalam in Tiruchy district.
He also opened two police buildings at Sathiyamangalam in Erode district constructed for the dog squad and other special squads at a cost of Rs 9.63 crore.
The quarters for Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Department was constructed at Pugalur in Karur district and Alankudi in Pudukottai district.
Similarly, Palaniswami inaugurated 14 substations across the state, constructed at a cost of Rs 202.15 crore.
