Under the BJP led NDA government, the CBI has become a Centre’s Bureau of Investigation, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker and senior AIADMK leader M Thambidurai said on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters in Karur, he said the CBI has become a centre of corruption and extortion.
Hitting out at the CBI and the Centre for initiating a series of cases against TN ministers, Thambidurai said: “The CBI is now under a cloud. I wonder about their credentials and investigations, which are now under the scanner. The Centre is also threatening the state ministers using the CBI.”
Stating that the CBI is being misused, he said State Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar is being forced to resign due to the CBI raids.
Thambidurai also blamed the CBI for not enquiring into the 2G case properly. “The special court did not give a clean chit to the DMK but said that the investigating agency CBI failed to submit adequate evidences.”
He also alleged the CBI searches at the residences of TN ministers and DGP residence were directed by the BJP-led Central government at the behest of the DMK. Meanwhile AMMK deputy general secretary T T V Dhinakaran tweeted that it was sad to witness the developments at the CBI, which is the country top investigating agency.
“At a time when the CBI is to investigate the cases related to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and other state ministers, this development is unfortunate. Change of guard in CBI makes one suspect political intervention at a time when Rafale could come under the CBI radar,” he tweeted.
