Siva (51), a native of Murasaravakkam in Kancheepuram district, was a lorry driver in a brick kiln in the same locality. He was married to Malliga and the couple had three children.
While working in the kiln, he developed intimacy with his coworker Chinnaponnu (40), who had separated form her husband, of Maduramangalam of the same district.
Later, Siva married Chinnaponnu and settled down at Thirupakuttai near Katpadi. However, the couple had frequent quarrels as Chinnaponnu was not able to bear a child for him. Meanwhile, Siva insisted to transfer her house in the name of his first wife and her children.
