Ramadas (30) of Nambarai village near Arcot, accompanied by his friend Suresh, went to the Vellore collector’s office for the weekly grievances day meeting. Ramadas told the Collector that there has been no action on his two earlier petitions about sand being smuggled from the Nambarai lake near Timiri.
Demanding to know whether officials really acted on the complaints lodged by the public or they were being sent to the dustbin, Ramadas thumped the table to insist his point.
An irritated Raman then ordered the police personnel to arrest the duo. Following this, the police whisked away Ramdas and Suresh to the Sathuvachary station. They were let off with a warning after the police collected their personal details.
