    64 dealers suspended for selling poor quality drugs
    The Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has conducted more than 59,000 inspections at sale premises and tested more than 10,000 drug samples to check the quality of the drugs in the past one year. Following this, the licences of 64 dealers have been suspended for selling drugs that were not of standard quality. In 2018-19, a total of 55,170 sales premises were inspected to check if the drugs were being sold as per the norms and regulations. At least 1,195 drug manufacturing units have also been inspected to check for the quality of the drugs in the city, while about 2,169 hospitals and medical stores and 1,148 blood banks were also inspected during the same time. “A number of suspensions were issued, sample testing is being made stringent and quality of drugs is being supervised annually.
