The first game was evenly poised to the point of 18-18 but Tai took the game away by augmenting the lead to win 21-18.
Second game was overwhelmingly on Tai's side as her regular drop shots and smashes were hard to negotiate for Sindhu. The game's last equalizer was 4-4, after which Tai took the game out of Sindhu's grasp with a galore of drop shots. Tai kept increasing the lead to take the game and the match with a 9-point margin 21-12.
With this loss, Sindhu's medal chances have become uncertain. Sindhu can salvage a bronze if she defeats world number 8 China's Bing Jiao He in the bronze medal match tomorrow.
Tzu-Ying Tai will face China's Yu Fei Chen for the gold medal match.
