Tamil Thalaivas’ disastrous VIVO Pro Kabaddi 2019 campaign came to an end with a 29-33 loss at the hands of Bengal Warriors at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida on Wednesday.
Delhi still has the chance to reclaim top spot as it has a game left. Coming on the back of a close victory against Jaipur Pink Panthers, Tamil took the early lead, thanks to successful raids from Rahul Chaudhari and Ajith Kumar. The Bengal defence then got into the game, with all-rounder Nabibakhsh impressing.
Warriors soon had the advantage, but its lack of ruthlessness allowed Thalaivas to draw parity. After exchanging blows, nothing separated the teams at the break as the scoreboard read 13-13. Bengal stepped up its game in the second period as Sukesh and Iranian Nabibakhsh picked up vital points.
Though left corner defender Ran Singh pulled off a ‘Super Tackle’ in the 25th minute, Tamil couldn’t prevent the all-out, which happened in the 28th minute. After the sweep, Rahul and Ajith collected raid points as Thalaivas reduced the deficit to just two points at one stage. But Rinku produced a ‘Super Tackle’ to end TT’s domination.
Courtesy some good showing, Bengal opened up a six-point lead with just a couple of minutes remaining. The Warriors defence held firm in the final moments to see off the victory.
Titans posts comeback victory
After trailing for most part of the duel, Titans delivered a stunning comeback when it mattered to finish the season on a high. The men from Hyderabad ended with 45 points, while UP has 69 with one game left in its kitty.
