The Parisians are runaway leaders, with 44 points from 16 games, 14 ahead of second-placed Lille. The momentum PSG had built up after a remarkable start to the season slowed on Sunday when it drew 2-2 with Bordeaux and it once again laboured at Strasbourg, a team which had won just one of its previous five games.
PSG started without attacking trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria and it fell behind four minutes before half-time. The referee awarded a penalty for handball after viewing the infringement on video review. Right-back Kenny Lala sent the PSG keeper the wrong way to open the scoring with his fourth goal of the season.
PSG brought on Mbappe early in the second half and it was the teenage striker who forced the breakthrough after 71 minutes when he was brought down in the box by Lala. Edinson Cavani took the penalty and levelled the scores to the relief of the visiting fans. Strasbourg thought it had scored a winner in stoppage time, but Adrien Thomasson’s header was ruled out for offside.
