Hogg asserted young guns from Tamil Nadu should see the state league as an opportunity to catch the eyes of Indian Premier League franchises.
“Since it takes place at a regional level, youngsters get to see heroes like Murali Vijay and Ravichandran Ashwin. Washington Sundar, if it wasn’t for TNPL, would’ve never played at this age. He has gone straight from TNPL to the IPL level.
The league just grows them as cricketers and selectors from IPL sides will have a close watch on their performances,” said Hogg.
Commenting on the growth of the league in districts, he remarked, “Facilities are wonderful here (Tirunelveli). It’s great that it is taking place in such regional areas. If you want to grow the game, you’ve got to take it to people and this a great initiative. This should be followed all over the world.”
