A naturalised South Africa citizen, Tahir is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous leg-spinners in the shorter formats of the game owing to his subtle variations, accuracy and the ability to spin the ball both ways. The 38-year-old Pakistan-born with a high-arm action possesses the ability to contain batsmen in the middle overs and has also reached the top of the bowler rankings in both ODI and T20I.
“The right combination of players, coaching staff, especially (Head Coach) Stephen Fleming, and the leader of the team Dhoni bhai... as a unit, Chennai Super Kings’ performances have been consistent over the years,” continued Tahir, who will be turning out in yellow for the first time.
“Not to forget the fans who give us that extra boost whenever we need,” added Tahir, who is known for his celebration run after claiming a wicket. “Twenty20 format is very popular globally as it appeals to everyone. There is loads of entertainment and unique branding in the IPL... fans enjoy watching the best cricketing talent from around the globe and locally,” stated leg-spinner Tahir.
