Talking to mediapersons, Narayanasamy said a control room managed by the Revenue Department has been opened and would function round-the-clock.
The Revenue Department and Local Administration Department would jointly function to pump out water stagnating in low-lying areas. The Health Department would ensure adequate stock of medicines and prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases, he said.
Pointing out that heavy rain has been forecast in the next two days, the CM said that officials have been advised to take all steps to meet the situation.
All departments would work in co-ordination and undertake relief works, he said, adding that the Electricity Department officials were advised to ensure that no employee is on leave till October 7. He also said that shelters have been identified to accommodate the affected persons and arrangements were made to provide them with food.
