The Chennai police on Wednesday booked Kasi theatre in Jafferkhanpet for allowing to screen Vijay starrer 'Master' in full capacity on the first day of its release.
The image of theatre screening the movie in full capacity was leaked in social media after which the police had booked the theatre under different sections.
Sources said that Kasi theatre has been booked under IPC Sec 188 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (and fined ₹5,000 for allowing more than 50 percent occupancy for 'Master' movie.
The Tamil Nadu government has allowed only 50 per cent capacity to screen movies. Though the order allowing 100 per cent capacity was issued earlier, it was withdrawn by the government after instruction from a bench of the Madras High Court and central government.
