Panic gripped shop keepers in Chennai’s Adambakkam on the early hours of Thursday as they found their shops were broken open and found items and cash kept in the shops went missing.

When they approached the cops, it was found that about eight shops in Chennai’s Adambakkam and Selayur were broken open.
The police said they broke into a milk outlet, hardware and petty shops in Karigalan Street in Adambakkam and took Rs 29,000 along with cigarette packets, bottles of ghee.
On Thursday morning, the shopkeepers who came to open their businesses called in the Adambakkam police. The police checked the CCTV footage at the hardware shop and found that one man had entered it and looted money.
In Agaramthen-Chamroad Mainroad the intruders looted two medical shops and a petty shop. Police said a total Rs 20,000 was taken from the shops. The police said the burglars tried to break the doors of textile and medical shops in the same locality.
