Sources said the committee was formed under Joint Commissioner (West) C Mageshwari after the audio went viral and an inquiry has been initiated. While the woman constable of Adambakkam police station has been sent on leave and asked to report to the control room on return, the inspector continues to be in the law and order inspector of the station.
While the audio did not reveal what kind of harassment the constable had been subjected to, the formation of the Vishaka Commission confirms that she has also faced sexual harassment. The woman constable is said to have appeared before the committee and submitted a detailed written statement.
However, the Joint Commissioner was not available for her comment whether the inspector was summoned for inquiry.
