The deceased, K Anbarasan (49) of Tirupattur, was the personal security officer (PSO) for the chief government whip, S Rajendran. Officials said Anbarasan, who was attached to Armed Reserve, was admitted on September 22 for kidney ailment. However, he died without responding to the treatment on Wednesday evening.
His colleagues claim that he was tested positive for coronavirus infection when he was admitted. But his body was handed over to the family for funeral. Anbarasan’s family member, when contacted, said that he was first admitted at Omandurar Government Hospital on September 19 with breathing issues. But his swab samples tested negative for COVID. Left jobless by lockdown, daily wager kills self in Ambattur
A 35-year-old daily wage labourer immolated self allegedly after being unemployed due to lockdown, in Ambattur. The deceased, Duraisamy of Mahakavi Bharathi Nagar, was reportedly dejected after his wife left for her parents’ house along with their daughter. On Wednesday evening, he doused himself with kerosene and set himself afire. The neighbours rushed him to a hospital, but he died.
