By December the public election department will transfer the officers who had completed more than three years as District Collectors and SPs in the same district, an informed official revealed. The political party meeting will discuss draft electoral rolls and the photo electoral voters’ list will be ready by January and same will be used for 2021 Assembly polls.
The officer also hinted that the Kanyakumari Lok sabha seat like the Assembly by-polls are to be deferred beyond the six-month window period as the corona infection is not dwindling in the state. According to government sources, the state will prepare the list of serving officers at district levels for more than three years, then the transfers will be taken up at field levels covering revenue and police department. Currently, the focus is on corona and monsoon mitigation. Verification of voters roll and printing of supplement voters roll will be taken up in February. By March a final review of electronic voting machines will be taken up and by April the polling booths will be inspected for basic amenities and security.
This is the regular duration followed for the past elections, the official said. District Collectors are already working on the enumeration of new voters roll and by January there will be clarity on total voters in all the 234 constituencies.
“Forms for the inclusion of voters and deletions are already available with the district election officers and the poll awareness campaigns will commence after Pongal holidays, an officer attached said.
Meanwhile, almost all the registered political parties in the state have directed the party district secretaries to assist voters in submitting new forms. AIADMK, DMK, AMMK have also commenced the identification for booth level workers.
