“Waves with a height of 3 to 3.7 metres are expected on October 12, along with high winds between the speed of 40 to 50 kilometre per hour. Fishermen are requested to avoid venturing into sea and those in the deep sea are requested to return to shore immediately,” said a release from the Regional Meteorological Centre on Saturday.
“The well-marked low-pressure area over east-central and adjoining south-east Bay of Bengal concentrated into a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal and lay centred about 430 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam. It is very likely to intensify further into a deep depression during the next 24 hours. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh,” it further said.
This depression will result in rains in certain parts of Tamil Nadu such as Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Ranipet and Vellore.
Thunderstorms and moderate rains can be expected in some other parts of the State too.
In Chennai, thunderstorms and light to moderate rains are expected over the next 48 hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be between 34°C and 27°C respectively.
