As on date, 1,11,054 persons were tested positive for the COVID-19 in the city and 97,574 were discharged, while 11,130 people are still undergoing treatment. A total of 2,350 persons died with a mortality rate of 2.11 per cent.
A senior Corporation official said that the civic body would continue to work to keep the number of cases below the 1,000-mark with strict enforcement of the social distancing norms and wearing of face masks to check the virus spread.
“In the daily door-to-door checking by the field workers, if a person was found to have complaints of breathlessness, they would be immediately taken to the ward level doctor and then to the suspect COVID-19 ward without waiting for the tests. This would help treat persons better and reduce the mortality rate,” the official said, adding that this move was aimed at bringing down the mortality rate. The Corporation continues to test more than 12,000 persons, including those identified with symptoms at fever camps. On Monday, 12,387 persons were tested for the coronavirus infection.
