Vinod Sridhar, who started Preloved Books Library that sets up libraries in homes and offices, tells us that many parents have approached him to set up libraries for their children. “Earlier, we used to get a decent amount of inquiries about home libraries. But after the lockdown, there is a spike in the number of parents approaching us to set up libraries at home, exclusively for children. Because of the online classes, parents fear that children will lose touch with learning and be more inclined towards technology. This also encourages children to get back to book reading habits,” says Vinod.
Explaining the process behind setting up home libraries, he shares, “We curate the personal library depending on the age and needs of the child. We know what kind of books children like and what’s the trend that’s picking up. So when a parent approaches us, we talk to them and understand the reading habits of their children.
“It will be a mix of books that include activity books, reference books and storybooks. It will be like a complete package — children can have fun reading and at the same time, learn something interesting. We have a huge collection of books for children belonging to various age groups.”
Vinod assures that the team follows social distancing and other rules while setting up specially-curated libraries at home. “We sanitise the books and the boxes before delivering it. We take all the necessary precautions before entering a house.”
