The Customs officials here arrested a Malaysian national of Indian origin and seized Ecstasy pills worth Rs 3 lakh, which came from Germany through parcel service, on Thursday.
A search was then carried out at his apartment located in posh Koramangala locality in Bengaluru by a team of Air Customs. The accused, Kavi Kumar’s (25) was apprehended and brought to Chennai by road. Kavi Kumar is a BBA graduate is working with Amazon in Bengaluru as Quality Analyst. He was arrested under the NDPS Act and was produced before the judicial magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
Ecstasy, or MDMA, is a party drug that alters mood and perception and is chemically similar to both stimulants and hallucinogens which produce feelings of increased energy and pleasure.
The seized pills are extremely potent as they contain a very high dosage of MDMA. Dosage above 120 mg is considered to be high and can be fatal.
Earlier in March, Air Customs had seized Ecstasy pills worth Rs 30 lakh at Foreign Post Office and arrested a Mysuru-based person.
