Onion prices have reduced to Rs 65 per kg at Koyambedu wholesale market. Vendors said that the prices might fall within a week as the government is taking steps. The price of drumstick has increased to Rs 100 per kg due to shortage of supply.
“Apart from onions, price of drumstick has also increased. It was being sold at Rs 60 and currently, it is being sold for Rs 100 per kg, which is higher than onions. We are expecting a 15 per cent fall in price by next week,” he added.
Vendors at the market said that the prices of other vegetables have been standard for the past two days. Now, tomato is being sold for Rs 25-Rs 30 per kg, potato for Rs 20-Rs 25, ginger for Rs 100, beans Rs 25-Rs 35, broad beans for Rs 50-Rs 55, brinjal for Rs 25–Rs 35, cabbage Rs 20 and carrot Rs 40.
