A 50-year-old man was arrested for sexually assaulting a 11-year-old mentally challenged girl at his house in Avadi.
On Monday, Nagaraj noticed that the girl was alone at her house and approached her. He was reportedly drunk. After wooing her to his house with chocolates, he allegedly sexually assaulted her. When she cried for help, neighbours rushed to her rescue, and chased and caught Nagaraj. He was thrashed before being handed over to the police.
Police said that Nagaraj was married and lived in a rented house in Morai with his wife and five children, including four daughters. The inspector Shoba Rani of Avadi all-women police station registered a case and arrested Nagaraj, who was remanded in Puzhal prison
