The Customs officials seized cosmetic drugs worth Rs 4.6 lakh from a passenger at Chennai airport on Thursday. As they were checking the passengers who arrived from Kuala Lumpur, the officials grew suspicious of one of them –31-year-old Abdul Sami. They intercepted him and took his baggage for examination, inside which they found cosmetic drugs.
As Abdul did not have any invoice or certificate from the Controller of Drugs, the officials seized the drugs and detained him for further inquiry. Cosmetic drugs are in high demand in Chennai, as many beauty parlours and skin treatment centres are offering services such as like anti-aging, skin whitening and wrinkle removal treatments.
