The Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID) sleuths on Friday arrested a man when he arrived at Chennai airport from Singapore for allegedly criticising Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar in a derogatory manner and was released on bail after he apologised before the magistrate.
Chennai: He has been identified as Veeramuthu of Kattumannarkoil and the complaint relates his Facebook post in 2017. The cybercrime wing of CB-CID had registered a case against him and issued a look out notice for him. When Veeramuthu reached the airport on Friday, he was secured and handed over to the CB-CID sleuths. Sources said that he was produced before a magistrate at Saidapet Court. He was released on bail after he allegedly apologised for his remarks online. Sources said that CB-CID sleuths have secured one more person, who arrived at the airport, for interrogation. However, no further details were available.
