According to reports, Kumar, a resident of Jegannadhar Nagar, Golden George Street, heard some strange noise from the unused well located on a vacant land near his house on Friday morning.
When he looked into the well, he found a cow struggling in the water. Seeing the plight of the cow, he soon informed the Fire Service and a squad from Mogappair Fire Station arrived on the scene. The rescue team succeeded in lifting the cow by using a rope. Rajendran, the head of the rescue team said that the cow may have fallen in during the night, as the well, which had no parapet wall, was also left open. Rescuers said the cow suffered no injuries as there was 7ft of water in the well. The cow was fine and it walked away soon after being lifted.
“The owner of the cow was not there when we rescued the cow. But the cow just walked away on its own,” fire control room added.
