Text Books Corporation is the nodal agency in printing textbooks for students studying from Class 1 to 12. The government had introduced new textbooks with new syllabus for Class 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 12. A couple of officials, who were in charge to monitor the distribution of textbooks, were engaged in a lengthy argument with two school management groups which this reporter got to witness. The first group alleged that the officials have “wrongly” sent the textbooks to the other school, which was meant for them. Another team, who do not want to return the textbooks, argued that the books have already been distributed and it would be difficult to give it back.
Both the school managements had been called by the officials for amicable settlement over the textbook issue. However, the first group was not satisfied with the reply of the other party and asked the officials to supply the textbooks immediately.
While officials made it clear that everything was done as per the instruction, they also said they cannot distribute the textbooks immediately as it requires lots of formalities. It took nearly one hour to pacify the staff of the school management, which did not receive the books. The argument between the managements was not left at the office, it continued outside the textbook corporation complex, too.
